On NaNoWriMo, Google Docs and Firefox 2.0

NaNoWriMo

So I done gone do something stupid and signed up for NaNoWriMo like I mentioned here.

In case you were wondering, NaNoWriMo means National Novel Writing Month. I’ve been hearing about it for the past couple of years, but I’ve been too chickenshit to actually sign up.

And how’s my progress so far? See for yourself.

Pretty pathetic I know, but just the thought of having actually started work on my “novel” gives me a small amount of comfort.

What I Learned From The Cruise

I finally got around to collating the pictures of the cruise, and I’ll be uploading them shortly. Meanwhile, here are a few things I learned/ reaffirmed/ discovered while on The Cruise:

  • One’s respect for any race goes down as the number of kids of that race present with you in the same room goes up.
  • On board a ship comprised of people from 26 different countries, Japanese was surprisingly the language most pleasing to the ear.
  • Getting up to sing in front of a room full of people may not be good for your image, but it’s good for the soul.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Celine Dione’s To Love You More isn’t the most annoying song in the world.
  • ABBA’s Chiquitita is.
  • Next time you try and sing in front of strangers, don’t attempt to pull off a power ballad like Chicago’s Look Away.
  • Most of the time, traveling with family is awesome.
  • Sometimes it just plain sucks.
  • Pack more shirts.
  • I want an Elephant.
  • Without any prior preparation, or even a script, a group of Filipinos can successfully entertain a room full of passengers who should be pissed at the delayed arrival back home, but are not.
  • I now know that those Amazing Race contestants who get stranded in a foreign country with no idea when they can return home are well within their rights to cry their eyes out.
  • Even when we’re not in the same country, Rach knows just what to say to make me feel better.
  • You can never take too many pictures.
  • Elevators are evil.

Next: Pictures! Without captions!

Also, If I haven’t stated this enough yet, Cruise Ships are awesome!

Mega-Hiatus

Hi. I just got back from the trip and I’ve got more than 200 pics to show for it. To balance off the cryptic tone in my previous post, lemme just say that I spent the past 5 days on board a Star Cruises cruise ship that took us from Singapore to Malaysia to Thailand. The cruise was nothing short of fantastic, and the website doesn’t do the ship justice. I fully intend to write something about the whole trip, but not just yet.

I find myself compelled to do something different than just writing about some TV episodes I’ve seen, or some retarded shit I’ve thought up. So I’m going to have to extend my break a little while longer. Maybe I’ll check out this NaNoWriMo thing I’ve been hearing about for the past couple of years.

I’ll probably write something about my experiences on board the ship once I get around to uploading the pictures. But not today, because I’m still catching up on some TV shows I missed while I was away.
