AKA:
Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Episode 1 - Occupation & Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Episode 2 - Precipice
Now it’s been quite a long time since I saw the Season 2 Finale, and I didn’t bother with the Webisodes, which would explain why I had to fill up some of the blanks on my own. But I can still say that I really enjoyed the season premiere despite the overall gloom.
So the Cylons finally caught up with the humans and found New Caprica. Since we last saw them, a lot has happened to the New Capricans:
Starbuck still has balls of steel…

which she demonstrates by stabbing her Cylon suiter in the neck…

which she has apparently done 5 times so far…

and then proceeds to eat her breakfast IN MURDER SAUCE!

Cally has a family now.

Gaius is still a douche. Only this time everybody knows it since he signed the death warrants of political prisoners.

Saul’s wife is still a slut. But this time she’s betraying Saul to save his life. Also, she’s ugly.

Admiral Adama now explicitly trusts captive Boomer. And they have tea together.

And now that Number 6 has a conscience, she’s not as annoying as before. But she gets killed. And if she keeps it up, her Cylon buddies may make a habit out of killing her.

Then Lee gets fat….

….

But in the scenes of the next episode, he’s thin again. Either they’ll fast forward a few more months before telling the next episode, or they have this futuristic ultra high tech equipment that makes Fat members of the main cast thin again. Either way, unless they do it really really well, I won’t buy the losing weight thing.

Much as I loved how the Second Season ended and how the Third one began, I can’t shake the feeling that somehow it’s not really happening in the Battlestar Galactica universe. It’s as if this story arc is somehow an alternate universe and that everybody’s still in Galactica trying to find a habitable planet. But then again, the show wouldn’t be as awesome as if it’s all real and everybody has their work cut out for them if they want things to be normal again.
