Cracow & The Wieliczka Salt Mine

The second to the last stop in our tour finds us in Cracow.

Here we find more buildings and churches. Still awesome, but nothing we’ve never seen before.

The real highlight of this stop is our visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine; a sprawling web of tunnels that goes as far as 327 meters below the surface, and is 300 km long.

Our tour only brought us as far down as 130 meters, but if you’re a bit claustrophobic like me, you probably wouldn’t feel very comfortable traversing down the long dark tunnels. You’d also be unacquainted with physical activity. And are fat.

130 meters. That’s almost like walking as many kilometers. Because really, the only difference between meters and kilometers is a couple of zeroes. So if you’ve walked for 130 meters, just walk the equivalent of a couple of zeroes more, and you’d have traveled 1300 meters, or 130 kilometers! WOW! Just be careful not to walk backwards though because you might step on a decimal point.
