I just realized why this show works for me so much. It’s not that it has been showing all of these awesome stuff from the get go. In fact, I have yet to see something that will blow me away. What this show is good at is to promise that good things will come, and that I’ll just have to wait.
Except for Hiro and maybe Isaac, all of the Supers are still coming to terms with their powers, and reassessing their respective places in this world. Peter is still trying to figure out how to fly on command, Clare is trying to find out what her purpose is. Matt is strapped to a table somewhere; and while Nathan can in fact fly on command (if the online comic is considered part of the show’s canon), he just doesn’t want to face that part of his life right now.
What about Nikki? She’s just trying to do right by her son. Also, a lot of talk has been going around regarding what her powers may actually be. Initially, I thought that she can create a very powerful double which can get rid of anybody who tries to cross her. But in light of what this episode has shown, that may not be exactly right. While she can indeed create a double, they may not be able to exist in the same physical plane at the same time. Whenever her double comes into play, she turns dormant and possibly stored in the nearest reflective surface. Think schizophernia, but with the half of a DNA double helix:
