…Because I am really digging them.
I’m not a big fan of Nu-Rock and other genres associated to Pogi Rock Bands which is why I have stopped listening to music altogether. I have been allergic to most forms of music that are not from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Yeah there are some new bands that are exceptions like Deftones, but nothing that really gets me excited.
Then somebody from another forum was so vehement about loving Breaking Benjamin, that I felt I had to check em out.
So now I’ve had time to listen to all three of their albums, and what is the verdict? I am excited. Really excited. I can’t wait for them to release their next album because I haven’t been this excited about a band in literally a decade.
It made me realize that maybe I haven’t been giving new music a chance and there may be similar bands out there that I should listen to. Somebody mentioned that BB reminded them of Finger Eleven so I checked out one of their songs:
And it just annoyed the living piss out of me. That song was why I hate Nu-Metal in the first place. It was all form without any substance, and it was just downright annoying.
I am now in the search of other bands in this generation that may come close to Breaking Benjamin, and am hopeful despite the fact that most of the band’s contemporaries (Se7endust, Disturbed, etc.) don’t really do it for me. So I posted this message in the forums I frequent (as well as this blog on the off chance that somebody is still visiting my blog) to see if they can come up with something.
So please restore my faith in music.

hey man i too know the feeling you described,bb truly are a mad band,very underated.If you want some good bands too check out try that crossfade-cold- try a band called SUNK LOTO they are awesome also very underated also have you herd papa roach check all there songs out 10 years are also an ok band listen to wasteland by 10 years,look for a band called GRINSPOON they rock another band powderfinger,cool band hope this helps ,also these bands are very good very underated like breaking benjamin the only non bb type band i gave is powderfinger but still worth a listen to cheers mate
You may want to check out Reveille too. They were around a while ago but many never heard them. The are starting a new bad called Genuflect which the album should be out in the Spring of ‘07
I too understand what you’re going through. I tell this to my wife all the time but she’s a youngin’ so she doesn’t understand. Music really came to a climax in the 90’s then slowly meandered down from that peak. Gone are the days of Rockin’ STP, Tool, Stabbing Westward…
Anyways, BB is definitely my favorite band at the moment. 30 seconds to Mars has a few songs worth checking out. I also like a few 10 Years songs. Beyond that I’m at a loss. Good luck in your search.
Yea, im 14 years alone and wasent around during the classic rock era. BB is my favorite band at the moment. I like crossfade too, its somewhat similar to bb. If you decide to listen to crossfade, listen to there song cold, its their best. I also like the bands my chemical romance and the used. They are nothing like bb, but still worth checking out. I also like acdc, black sabbath, ozzy osbourne alone (crazy train) and guns n roses. You probably know about all those though, since they are pretty old.

bb is the best band ever. all their songs (exept for rain)are equally great and are all tied for the bestrock song ever. No ones a better rock star than Ben Burnley i only 16,but i kown this for sure.

hey, yah all the bands like Reveille,Chevelle,BB, are all good….check out some bands called SEETHER, RED, HURT,INCUBUS(which isn’t that much like BB but is pretty much worth looking at) and the last band is GODSMACK. I like all of the other choices there really good. Expesally Reveille….so keep looking for bands i could use them:)

I know for a fact that the two best bands that I have ever heard are crossfade and breaking benjamin. Chevelle is alright but none compare to those two.
I love music if its got a good singer and a good guitar along with all the rest. i hate hip hop and rap and i hate it even more when they refure to them selves as artists when some one else rights there music (for prof there talent less check the little book that comes with the cd and the konya wests new cd the whole stronger song the beat is daft punk stronger better faster) sorry if i spelled his name wrong but i dont care and im to lazy to find out but good bands with no screaming 10 years, 30 seconds to mars, alein ant farm(really good), A perfect circle which you should really check if you like tool, anarchy club, bush crossfade, drist, headstones i mohter earth, hurt, thats just some

Definitly you should look up Revis, a bit hard to find sometimes though. Then Audiovent is good although they only had one album, Cold (not coldplay), Gravity kills (my favorite), God Lives Underwater, Paulson, and The Exies are all rather good bands you may have never heard of.

Hey hey Graham nice list there!! Good job man. gotta say, I thought theory of a deadman sound pretty sweet, Earshot too is ok, and I thought Under the Flood was really good too. 32 leaves was ok too, but I still aint too sure about them

WEll Graham got a very good list but I shall say that he missed the GR8TEST BAND ( 3 days grace ) the 2 albums are really gr8 (one x and 3 days grace ) and u can try a band called ( 10 years ) they r the best ( three days grace i find them quite similar 2 BB )

Hey if you like BB, try out Three Days Grace. They tour with BB and therefore they obviously sound a lot alike. Look up riot, never too late, animal I have become, riot, I hate everything about you, and just like you. ( Songs by them)

saliva < may have been mentioned, more like seether than BB but still a good band, nearest song to BB they have is probably ‘ superstar ‘.
one less reason < much lighter than BB but very very good, ‘ favourite colour ‘ is a beautiful song, great lyrics.
logan < scottish band who toured with alterbridge a couple year ago, very very good, id say .. listen too ‘ hallowed ground ‘.
COLD DRIVEN < VERY similar to BB, this is the great band bro, so amazing, and the song ‘ heavier than heaven ‘ is VERY breaking benajmin like, id say possibly a tiny bit heavier, and a tiny bit more melodic, but so amazing, if you still look at these forums please let me know what you think of this band.
digital summer < I discovered this band same time as cold driven, and cold driven are a better band, this band sound like early BB, worth a listen, i think you’ll like them bro, sound like seether mixed with BB.

And man I’m glad you came along and named some good music. Seriously I think no one reads these things before they write cause every single person on here was like, “Have you heard 3 days grace? You know, the greatest band ever?!?!?” Fuck that shit. They are good but they are probably the most overrated band on the planet.
