I’m sensing a disturbance in The Force

Ever notice when you’re with some people and someone they know comes over to chat with them, you act as if that person is invisible simply because you’ve never been introduced to each other yet?

The funny thing is, both of you act surprised when you are finally introduced to each other. Like it’s the world’s biggest secret that there was another person standing there all along. It’s as if we, as strangers, are invisible to each other and only our friends are the only ones who can see us.

Me [studies shoe]: Ah, there seems to be a hole that a lace missed. Funny I never noticed it before.

My friends [talking to air]:
“That’s what I said! Hey, have you seen Brad’s new….”

Me: I wonder if my other shoe also has an untended hole that should be laced up. Better go check. Oooh, gum! [Moves attention to the other shoe].

My friends [laughing with air]: “No kidding! Get outta here!”

Me: What is wrong with them? Gee I hope nobody else sees that they’re talking to air.”

My friends [noticing me]: “Oh, by the way, have you met Pau? Hannah, this is Pau. Pau, Hannah.”

Hannah [appears in a cloud of smoke]:
*POOF* “Oh hey!”

Me: “Uy!”

And I wonder if that kind of reasoning can be used to your advantage.

Like for example, after a head on collision:

ME:
“Hell officer, I never saw that other car coming. You see, the driver and I have never been formally introduced…”

Or in a bar:

Her: “Uh, excuse me? You’re sitting on me!”

Me: “Wha?! Oh hey! Didn’t see you there…stranger.” *WINK*

Or at the zoo:

Me: “Don’t worry, that escaped lion will never harm us! It doesn’t even know our names!”
