Holy Crap! I almost went to jail! Well no, not really, but I got involved in something that landed somebody else in jail.
Let me backtrack a bit. In one of the forums I frequent, one guy told us about this prank he wanted to play on someone. I’m going to be vague about it mostly because I forgot the details. Also to protect whoever it is that needs protecting.
The town that the guy lived in suffered a severe snowtorm so they had to close off some roads, schools, etc. Apparently the local radio station has been announcing that a certain school was closed so the students shouldn’t bother going to school that day.
The guy’s co-worker, who I’m told is a sweet lady, didn’t have a radio signal in her area probably because of the storm, hence didn’t receive any notification about the school being closed. So she called the station because she wanted to know if she should bring her kid to school or not. The exchange went a little something like this:
“Hi, is [name of school] open today?”
“We’ve been announcing that all morning!”
“I live in [name of area] and I don’t have your signal here. So is it open?”
“Like I said, we’ve been announcing it all morning! God!”

What an asshole right? So of course, when that guy posted this on the forum and his plan to get even with The Asshole (from here on in, I’ll be referring to him as such), everybody got behind it right away.
The plan was that on the appointed time, a dozen or so of us would call the radio station to ask if the school was open today. We were told that the asshole goes on everyday at the same time so we’re sure to get him. People from Australia, England, New Zealand, Germany have promised to join the prank. Since I had
A few hours ago, at the appointed time, we started clogging up the station’s phone lines. The asshole caught on pretty quick that when I finally got through, he was in a very foul mood:
Asshole: [Says name of radio station]
Me: I have a question. Is [name of school] open?
Asshole: Where are you calling from sir?
Me: From the Philippines!
Asshole: (pause) From the Philippines?! Really? What is your name?
Me: Nadz Cockrockington.
Asshole: Are you enrolled in Washington Elementary School Mr. Cockrockington?
Me (trying not to giggle) : No I’m not. But I just want to ask that question.
Asshole: Are you enrolled in [another school name, that I forgot]?
Me: No I’m not.
Asshole: Do you like lying Mr. Cockrockington?
Me: No I do not!
Asshole: Do you think this is funny? Do you think that what you and your friends are doing is funny?
Me: What are you talking about? I’m asking a simple question!
Asshole: Are you looking forward to having telephone harrassment charges brought against you and your friends? Because we’ve been getting your calls from New York, London, Australia, Texas. We’re tracing your call right now and there’s no way you’re in the Philippines!
Me: Oh really?! Then where the hell am I?
Asshole: You’ll know.
Me: But I already know where I am. I just want to know if you know!

While this was going on, the forum was alive with similar reports from the other callers. A short while later, the guy who started it all told us to “Pull The Fuck Out!” Apparently, a few of us were having so much fun with The Asshole that the calls didn’t stop there.
It got to the point that the radio station got the police involved and started calling back some of the callers. The guy who started it all became worried and turned himself in immediately. This is what he posted about his ordeal:
I went to jail for “Accountability for phone harrassment.” Had to pay $110 to get out of jail. It’s a class B misdemeanor. I just went to the police station and turned myself in because they were tracing calls and calling people back, asking for my name. I’d rather me get in trouble than you guys because I was the dumbass who started it all. I’ll give you more details when I get home tonight. Right now, I’m locking this thread.
Also, as of an hour or two ago, there were still a few of you calling in to the radio station. Please stop doing that.
By the way, the police were actually surfing this forum to see my posts where I tell everyone to pull out. I’m not sure why, but I find that incredibly… I don’t know… “odd.”
I know what we did was incredibly stupid, but our hearts were in the right place. Also, seeing as how I never got into trouble when I was still in school, I guess I was making up for it.
Was I scared that they’d trace my call? Not really. First of all, the guy told me that when he saw my number on his caller ID, he told me that there was no way I’m calling from the Philippines.

“…Also, seeing as how I never got into trouble when I was still in school, I guess I was making up for it…”
When was it when you purposely rammed the car that blocked your way while you were parked, and when you intentionally hit the guy who wasn’t using the sidewalk? Was that after graduation?
The car ramming thing was after graduation so that doesn’t count.
The guy ramming thing was done while we were in school yes, the worst that happened was he dropped his books so I never got into trouble for that. Plus he was gay so again, it doesn’t count.
