Turns out, Sawyer is a big sweetheart. Who would have thought? Obviously the flashback for this episode occurs right after Sawyer gets caught doing The Long Con.
So he’s in Jail and gets visited by Cassidy, the object of the aforementioned Con, who informs him that they have a daughter called Clementine. In true Sawyer fashion, he throws Clementine (the picture, not the actual baby) back in Cassidy’s face and walks away.
Meanwhile back on the island, Henry/Benjamin installs a pacemaker in a little rabbit’s heart and scares it until its heart explodes. This prompts Sawyer to utter the best line in the whole episode; “Did you just kill that bunny?” Then Henry-I-Can-Never-Get-Used-To-Calling-Him-Benjamin tells Sawyer that he has the same thing installed in his heart which will kill him once his heartbeat goes above 140. Then he tells Sawyer that if he tells Kate about his pacemaker, she’ll get one just like it.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, Desmond seems really intent on getting Claire and her son away from their tent so he can fix their roof.
Then Jack is brought into an operating room in which lies a dying Colleen, the girl Sun shot in The Glass Ballerina. This is when Jack saw this x-ray. Judging from it, he says that it belongs to a man in his 40s who has a tumor growing in his spine. Now the man in question could be any one of the guys of The Others. But I can’t discount the fact that it could be one of the survivors. How old did Sawyer say he was?
Now back to Sawyer’s flashback. Long story short, he helps the Warden find out the location of the $10M one of the inmates stole from somebody else. As a reward, Sawyer goes free and gets a cut of the money. Instead of taking it for himself, he had the Warden’s people create a bank account in the name of Clementine Phillips and deposit the money there.
Back on the island, Hen—fuck—Benjamin tells Sawyer that there was no pacemaker all along. Henry also notes that Sawyer didn’t appear all too bothered with having a pacemaker in his heart until he was threatened with them putting one in Kate as well. Thus proving Sawyer is also in love with Kate.
By the way, Kate also declared her love for Sawyer earlier which she took back, but proved again when she refused to escape without Sawyer.
And we see that a lightning almost hits Claire’s hut, but was diverted by a lightning rod Desmond built nearby;thereby further proving his precognitive abilities. Also, there are actually two islands! Oh My!
