Operation: Mindcrime II

Operation:Mindcrime IIListen up bitchfaces, get those cocks out of your mouths and pay attention because I’m about to say something so beautiful you’ll be creaming in your jeans for years to come:

Queensrÿche’s finally gotten off their lazy asses and have finished work on Operation : Mindcrime II!

BOOYAH!

For the uninformed, Queensrÿche is one of the most underrated progressive rock bands around — mostly because a lot of their records never really sold well. But in the few times when they do get their shit together, they can come up with albums that are the very definition of awesome.

Case in point: Operation: Mindcrime and Empire.

How awesome are these albums you ask? Well let me tell you. One time, I stopped a stranger and his girlfriend on the street and had the following exchange with him:

Me: Hey stranger, your girlfriend’s hot. I’d like to have hot, messy casual sex with her.

Stranger: You certainly may not! I will not stand for such tomfoolery!

Me: How about if I told you an irrefutable truth that will forever change your life and how you look at the world?

Stranger: Ok, you may make your attempt.

Me: Operation: Mindcrime is awesome!

Stranger: By Jove! You’re right!

Me: So can I have sex with your girlfriend now?

Stranger: That wouldn’t be inappropriate.

Me: Good man.

Stranger’s Girlfriend: Ooooh. Good man!

It’s a true story that I’ll always remember fondly.

In a nutshell, Mindcrime is a concept album which not only served to put Queensrÿche on the map, but is also so influential that even after almost twenty years after its release, people are still talking about it.

You can read about the plot of the album here, but it won’t mean shit if you’re not hearing the music that comes along with it.

Of course I haven’t heard the new album yet, but considering the track record of these guys, I have no doubt in my mind that it’ll flatten my balls. I’d probably go into the how and why it’s going to be so awesome, but this post is already filled with my gayness for Queensrÿche. So I’ll just end with this: “If you love music, or your ears, you will move heaven and hell in search of this album.”

Good day.

Speaking of concept albums, I’ve decided to rate all the concept albums I’ve heard in order of preferrence:

  1. Dream Theater’s Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory
  2. Queensrÿche’s Operation: Mindcrime
  3. Iron Maiden’s Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
  4. Dream Theater’s A Change of Seasons (Not strictly a concept album, but the title track is 25 minutes long, which is already more than half of the whole album.
  5. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon
  6. Pink Floyd’s The Wall
