As a final word, I’m going to have to say something about the 3G coverage. Smart Bro & Globe Visibility both have nationwide coverage. Our research indicate that they both have around 1,000 3G sites scattered across the country.
Sun on the other hand is focusing only on NCR at the moment, with guaranteed coverage in these key areas:
- Makati
- Manila
- Quezon City
- Alabang
- Marikina
However, it bears mentioning that while its competitors have 1,000 3G sites across the country. Sun has 1,000 3G sites scattered across NCR only, with plans of expanding throughout the country. That means you have more chances of getting a signal than with the other providers!

The Sun Broadband connection service is very disappointing!
Don’t be fooled to subscribe to this network.
They claim that they have 2Mbps but this is not true.
The highest speed that I get is 40 Kbps.
Most of the time during peak hours I get less than 10 Kbps.
Your browser seems to just freeze. You could sleep while waiting for the website to upload.
It seems that the Manila area is already congested since a few months back the connection is not like this. Your money is not worth it when you buy this.
The Sun Broadband is like the the Sun Cellular. A waste of money!
They should refund to the consumers all the connection days that the network gave slow connections.
The Senate of the Philippines should also make an action regarding this. We demand a refund with slow connections. This should be also be true with Sun Cellular calls.
If their Network could not handle the bulk of consumers that subscribe to their network, they should just limit the number of consumers that avail their network. We are being fooled by this network!
When you call their customer service, you have to wait for at least 30 minutes to be answered. Sometimes I wait for 30 minutes and it will be disconnected so I have to call customer service again and wait for another 30 minutes.
Dont be fooled by this Sun Cellular and Broadband Network.
Such a waste of money.

We demand that the modems that we bought should also be refunded.
They will sometimes give you websites to check your speed right now but it is inaccurate … giving you fast speed but actually not.

They have a demo computer in their store which is acceptably fast in the area but when you test your own unit it has slow connection. Something is fishy. Could the account in the demo unit really much faster than what they sell?

hi im from cavite molino at mary homes, im thinking about globe, smart or sun, in our area smart is very poor when it comes to signal i always need to put my cellphone in the window for me to get txt and it is juz only one bar of signal, and the globe here is really gud even inside the house or at the CR i have signal not like smart, i havent tried yet the sun there, can you give me advice about this which one is better globe tatooe or smart bro. bec accdg to most of people if you have a poor signal in your town you cannot enjoy it.

bkit ganon. 20kbps lng nakukuha kong download speed. pano ba pabilisin un. nasa manila ako sampaloc lng yun ha, pero nung first week na gnagamit ko nag 3.6mbps pa cya. but now WALA AKO MASABI>
all of us guys using SBW encountered the same problems, my first month using this SBW was so fast i can download a 700mb torrent file for about 12 hours pero ngaun 3-5 days na inaabot ko, naisip ko sanang mag palit nlng ng PLDT myDSL kaso parang sinayang ko lng ung pinangbayad ko d2 sa modem na to. if someone is reading this and planning to subscribe for SBW, dont, just dont………………….*sigh* what a waste of money for buying this modem and paying a monthly for “799″ and time para hintayin mong mag load ng napakatagal ang isang site. SBW *sucks*
I have been a subscriber of SBW for more than 10 months now. I had an acceptable speed connection with SBW during the first 6 months but experience slow connections during the last 4 months. I have been complaining about having slow connections at my area during peak hours. I have been trying to follow up with SBW customer service for the past 4 months now due to the slow connections. They agree that there is a problem with my area but they will never refund my payment since the reason that I have slow connections is due to congestion of users and not due to the system. This is because, if you would look at some of the literatures of SBW, there are small imprints that say that SBW could slow down during peak hours. For this reason, they are free from complaints and suit from DTI.
My subscription with SBW is not locked in for 2 years. I am decided to terminate my subscription from SBW even if I will waste my investment on their modem and router but you have to apply in their main office for termination which will really be a hassle. You can only also refund the 1000 pesos deposit after 6 months from service termination.
They said that SBW is continually improving their service in my area but doesn’t know when. So I asked if I could just hold my subscription with SBW while their connection is slow and would just re-subscribe when they already improved the system. They said that it could be possible but you have to pay 500 pesos for the reconnection fee.
Given the situation, I asked if I would just not pay the following months until my service is terminated. They said that after 2 months of non-payment, the SBW subscription would be disconnected but I would continually be charged every month even if the subscription is not being used until I pay and could receive a demand letter from their lawyers.
I asked where I could complain in writing and who to write to but they would never give a supervisor name. They just told me to email my complaint directed to a “To whom it may concern” to suncellular@digitel.com.ph

Think very well before subscribing to SBW.

Hi. I just bought my sun broadband pack today. Sadly I don’t have signal. I live in Paranaque Better Living, which has around 3 sites when we checked in the 3g finder. Is there anything I am missing or I just simply don’t have signal?

bought a prepaid sun broadband kit june of this year but now i can no longer use it. the damned thing can’t pick up a signal, can’t even send a single stinking text message just to check my balance – as in nada! and when you touch it, ang init-init! read somewhere that if the unit gets busted then walang palit so i’m still thinking if whether i should bother visiting their sun centers to have the unit checked. otherwise i just might stick the sun usb dongle in a place where the SUN doesn’t shine!
Same experience as 3RDRA. I mean, bought SBW last September. It was super fast at first (faster than Smart Bro—but really. Anything would be faster than that thing.) so I was satisfied with my purchase. Pero ngayon it won’t even connect! Which is so weird coz I just used it last time when I went to school.. and then when I returned home it won’t freakin’ connect for some reason. I shall have to go to a Sun center to sort out the problem..
Kawawa naman kayo ang bagal ng connection mo, I wish pwede ko i share ung connection na nakukuha ko from SUN. Sana wag nyo masyadong laitin yung SUN kasi na try ko na lahat ng broadband, so far this is the fastest. Im paying 649 per month and Im getting 3mbps.
I WON’T RECOMMEND SUN if you are living in Plainview Mandaluyong and nearby areas. The signal is fairly good but the bandwidth is not. Parang gripo ng tubig na gapatak lang ang lumalabas sa sobrang bagal. I’ve been using it for 3 months and never had a good surfing experience. I sold it for 600 Php to my friend living in Quiapo Manila because as per him, he had a good experience using SUN in their home. Now I plan to use Smart Bro.

Well, I just bought this 888 kit. I wonder what happened because last 3 months ago I tried the kit of my friend and it works fine and fast. But now I get 10-20kbps. T_T what the hell happened..

I just bought my SBW this afternoon. It’s the 799 plan. But when I tried it at home it didn’t wowk. It doesn’t even have a signal. It said error 628. I live in Ortigas just across the street from robinsons galleria. So i am hoping that there will be a nice reception. I am wondering if I could refund my money., I am really pissed off. It’s such a great waste of money!! I wish I could refund it.
In the present, Sun Broadband Wireless is the most affordable. Maski sa Globe at SmartBro nakakaranas ng hndi mganda sa connection. But considering the price, SBW is the best choice for now. Swertehan din naman. Minsan tlg, mabagal connection. lalo na sa Youtube videos na HD, grabeng bagal, capped kasi sa 30+kbps ang speed sa streaming. Madaling araw lang tlg mga 90% ang speed niya. Minsan hanggang 8am. Minsan naman 2-3 pm mabilis din. Im using the Post-paid + SBW plan, mas sulit. Bumabawi na lang ako sa torrent, misan abot 200 kbps, pero kadalasan 30kbps tlg ang nililimit nila. Guys, ganun tlg, makakaranas at makakaranas kayo ng downtime. Tiyagaan lang.

Kung ako sa inyo magDSL na lng kayo kung nasa bahay lang kayo, PLDT DSL, BAYAN DSL, O SKY BROADBAND NA LNG kayo kung nasa city kayo. Ako nasa probinsya kaya nagtitiis sa Wireless kc wala dito sa Tagaytay. Taga Quezon City ako mabilis naman doon eeh.

Two years ago, 2008, my friend bought this 999/month SWB modem. It was so fast, reaching up to 7MBps. Nakakahanga talaga. It is stable and working fine in Malate, sampaloc, sta. cruz, and Quiapo. July 2010, naisipan kong bumili nitong USB SWB modem nila hoping that I stil could get the same speed and stability ng SUN broadband na ito. Whewww, SUNungaling na sila ngayon sa kanilang advertisement.
As of today, I could hardly get a stable connection. They told me (also in manual) to selectt WCDMA Only profile name kasi mabilis daw yon. Pag nakatsamba ka, mabilis nga. pero minu-minuto ka naman napuputol. And then, napakahirap na mag connect. The time you spent in attempting to connect is greater than the time if you go out and rent a pc in an Internet cafe, mas mabilis pa sila.
Waste of money. Unless SUN company makes remedy to this problem, SUN will set on the west sooner.

Bumili ako last year, around august. nung first 3 days na ginamit ko, ok pa. dirediretso po ang net nmen. nung araw na namatay si pres. cory, nag-connect ako sa net. sobrang bagal!!! as in klangan ko magdisconnect then connect ng paulit ulit para lang lumabas ang isang site. iniisip ko baga marami lang nakainternet sa araw na yun. nung mga sumunod na araw na, pareho ang nangyayari. sinubukan ko i-connect sa laptop ng iba, same pa rin.. ang bagal bagal bagal bagal bagal ng SUN BROADBAND. lately bumili ang tita ko ng Smart Bro, tuloy tuloy ang connection.. haist… sasayangin nyo lang ang oras at pera nyo sa Sun. hindi na sila nahiya kay Iya Villana na ginamit nilang model. im using sbw for 8months now..i did have problems with its connection sometimes its slow sometimes its connected but u cant browse any website..but right now..i have this problem that i just cant fix..im trying to send a msg.but it wont go through..even the balance inquiry wont work..any idea how it can be fixd? thanks
kung gusto nyo ng mabilis na connection, switch to skybroadband. maski yung plan 999 nila na 1mbps, napaka stable. also sa bayan dsl, maganda din
