Sun Broadband Wireless
Shameless plugging time!
Sun Cellular is coming out with its own broadband service to rival Globe Visibility, and Smart Bro. It’s called Sun Broadband Wireless.
As is true with most of Sun’s products, Sun Broadband Wireless (SBW) is priced agressively without sacrificing the quality of the service.
For as low as P799 a month up to P999 a month, you could get unlimited access to SBW with burstable speeds of up to 2Mbps. Click here for more information.
Just to put that into perspective, here is what its competitors are offering:

Globe Visibility:
Smart Bro
Speed Comparison
Here are speeds taken with the different ISPs my family uses. I’ll let the numbers speak for themselves.
Now check out Sun’s download speed:
3G Coverage
As a final word, I’m going to have to say something about the 3G coverage. Smart Bro & Globe Visibility both have nationwide coverage. Our research indicate that they both have around 1,000 3G sites scattered across the country.
Sun on the other hand is focusing only on NCR at the moment, with guaranteed coverage in these key areas:
- Makati
- Manila
- Quezon City
- Alabang
- Marikina
However, it bears mentioning that while its competitors have 1,000 3G sites across the country. Sun has 1,000 3G sites scattered across NCR only, with plans of expanding throughout the country. That means you have more chances of getting a signal than with the other providers!
So there you have it. Sun Broadband Wireless is by far the best choice when it comes to wireless broadband.

@liz If you’re interested, I can send somebody over to your house and have your place tested for a signal.
That sim card there — that’s their simcard for their broadband? And not the mobile one? I’m interested in getting one. Smart has been good so far but if there’s a better (and cheaper) service out there, why not. How’s Sun’s customer service on this? We’ve been using Smartbro for more than two years now so we can always cut it off now.
how can i avail SWB?
You should be careful with smart bro because they have policies that are oppressive and unfair to its customers… and they keep quiet about it.. here is the story http://www.roysencio.com/my-smart-bro-problem/
Oh. That is so true. I actually bought those three (Globe visibility, Smart Prepaid Broadband, and Sun Broadband Wireless). Living in Quezon City, I have to say that the SBW is the best among the three when it comes to downloading speed. Globe visibility is almost useless inside the house. I get a good signal when I go out of the house, but when inside a closed room, it’s totally useless. You really have to find a nice spot inside the house to get a connection */* Smart prepaid is actually very good. The signal in our area is strong. There is no trouble connecting and finding a nice spot. */* But still, I’d have to say Sun Broadband Wireless is the best I’ve tried. But unfortunately, it’s only strong within NCR.
I just bought my SBW a week ago. I live at Cubao. I’m basing my download speed via utorrent. It’s kinda slow for me now but I have not had the time to test it thoroughly. Is there a setting or something I can do to increase my download speed? Although at P999 I’m sure it’s a better deal than other ISPs. Thanks!
you have any idea if you compare SBW with smartbro (with antenna)? is the smartbro usb type (and the other providers) comparable with the smartbro with antenna in terms of speed?
After researching on feedbacks about SBW i’ve decided to get one. Is your price the same as what was offered in sun shops?
Here’s good news! SUN BROADBAND WIRELESS now offers Unlimited Broadband Internet service for as low as P649/month with speeds of up to 2Mbps. 3 ways to avail of Sun Broadband Wireless:
1) Existing Sun postpaid subscribers add only P649/month to your existing Plan. That’s P150 discount/month on your broadband subscription. This offer is also available to new Sun Postpaid subscribers. Great offer!!!
2) For those who prefer to only get the Sun Broadband Wireless service, pay only P799/month. Just submit your Valid Identification (SSS, Diver’s License, PRC Card, etc), Proof of Billing and Proof of Income (2 months credit card bills, existing internet subscription bill, and postpaid subscription bill of Globe/Smart/Addict can be used as proof of billing and income.) Other bills like Meralco, Manila Water, Cable TV bills, PLDT/Innove/Bayantel bills can also be used depending with the bill amount.
3) EASY BROADBAND!!! Now this is the easiest way to get an Internet Broadband service instantly. Just pay P2,500 as modem fee and P799 for the advance MSF and present your Valid ID with address (driver’s license, company ID with address, etc) If there’s no address on your ID, just submit a billing statement (doesn’t have to be under your name) where Sun can send the bills to.
For any inquiries, you may call 333 on your Sun phone, dial 3953333 using a landline or visit the nearest THE SUN SHOP outlet.
Sun Broadband Wireless is adding more and more 3.5G cellsites in Quezon City, Makati, Mandaluyong, Las Pinas, Paranaque, Bicutan, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Marikina, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Cainta and Antipolo. So this means faster internet service using HSDPA! If you’re using a 3G phone, turn on the UMTS/3G network feature under Network Settings and manually search the network to check if you have Sun Cellular 3G signal at your place. In places not covered by Sun’s 3G service yet like Cebu, Davao, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, etc there’s the EDGE service that offers about 256kbps, not bad for just P649/month.
This service competes directly versus Globe Visibility, Smart Broadband and PLDT WeRoam that charges at least P1,500/month for unlimited internet.
To get the best speed with Sun Broadband Wireless:
While diconnected from the service, go to –> TOOLS –> OPTIONS –> NETWORK –> NETWORK TYPE –> select WCDMA ONLY…. This way you get connected via HSDPA at ultra-fast speeds of up to 2Mbps…

Pau:
How’s HSDPA (3.5G) service in Cebu?? Do you know when SUN will have 3.5 G in Cebu??
If sign up for SUN in Cebu now (where only EDGE, 2G) is available, will SUN still give me E220 HSDPA USB unit ?? It is backward compatible to 2G, right??
Can you send me an email ??
Thanks,
Is there a signal of SBW here in CLSU, Nueva Ecija?Because if the signal is reliable then i’ll purchase it.Thanks!

Hi Pau, is it possible to send someone over at my folks’ place to try out the service? I wanna switch from Smart (Slow) Bro to this one if it tests out good and if downtimes are non-existent…
Thanks
I would have to say I am disappointed with the Sun Prepaid Broadband kit that I got just a few days ago. It’s so slow. I coudn’t even say it’s a broadband speed. It’s a glorified dial-up speed for crying out loud! At first I thought it was just my location. But I wasn’t sure then because I have a very strong Sun signal at home. It registers full bar HSDPA but when I “speedtested” it, it only registers around 50kbps, never hit more than a 100. So i tried different locations but to my dismay it always results to the same slow speed. Still not contented I went to Sun Service Center in Megamall and compared it with their Postpaid Broadband kit. The difference is way way significant. Sun Prepaid is far very slow compared to Sun Postpaid kit. I filed a complaint to Sun, hopefully they will respond.
no s#!+? that sucks… will probably have to hold out on this. and i might need to buy a 3g router just to have a wi-fi network set up at my house… too much hassle…
is it true that since February this year, SUN broadband implemented a fair usage policy? if that’s the case.. limited na downloads mo in a month before they drop the speed to 5kbps? I just read it in one other forum. I haven’t talked to Sun Broadband Tech support yet( since hassle tumawag sa kanila, tagal ng waiting time bago may sumagot sa yo). Sana someone can confirm this please. Kc gusto ko sana kumuha ng SUN broadband this month.
also…
interested ako to find out if its possible to connect my sunbroadband modem to my PC ( windows xp) then meron kc akong laptop (2nd unit) na gusto ko rin sana i-connect sa internet simultaneously sabay sa PC ko. Usually kc nag oonline games ako sa PC, since mas mataas video card ko dun, then yung laptop naman ginagamit ng sister ko. Meron po ba kayo alam pano to connect my Linksys WRT54G wireless router? Thanks!
I have Globe Visibility and I say it sucks! lalo na inside the house. Slower than dial up! Am thinking of getting Sun Broadband. Thanks for this info.
I’m planning to get a wireless broadband service these days and I’ve read about bad things with SmartBro and Globe. Is this the real deal? I’m interested but I live in Valenzuela City. Please e-mail me more info.
Will 3G be able in Cavite any time soon? or will it be EDGE for a while, i’m looking to get another ISP on top of my MyDSL because PLDT connection sucks!
APN for prepaid is minternet
APN for postpaid Plan 799 and Bundle 649 is fbband
call 3953333 if you need more info…
i recently purchased sun broadband prepaid. i went to their cubao office on tuesday to inquire if concepcion 2 in marikina is covered. they said our area is not yet covered but i was too excited about the device, i bought it anyway. when i came home i tested it right away, i was surprised that it worked, i got 3.6 Mbps. it’s good for surfing the web but when i try to download files it’s not working at all. i was trying to download the latest mozilla firefox but it failed. over-all it was fine, it could have been better if downloading is fast as well.
Pede ko bang malaman kung gumagana webcam sa ym saka voice chat pag SBW ang gamit ko. sa navotas ang location.?
we are currently using sun easy wireless broadband and so far we’re very satisfied with it. We live in Paranaque and never had problems connecting so far.
Hi,
I was at the Sun Shop in MegaMall yesterday and wanted to get the unlimited plan for 799. However, I want them to do a site test first before I buy. They got my details and said they’d inform me when they can do the testing. I waited all day, to no avail Would you be able to do this? I need to get my connection up asap…Thanks!
Hi Edu,
I live in Valenzuela Area as well and I should say that im quite satisfied with my SBW compared to my PLDT DSL bundled with my landline.
Its also “unlimited” usage unlike SMARTBRO Prepaid. Just my two cents…
For the last 2 weeks I’m having problems with SWB. It seems the connection gets cut off very often. I usually leave my laptop on all night for downloads. Is there a problem with my huawei or its just sun. I was at makati the whole day last Monday but I did not get cut off. So I’m assuming that the problem is within the area I live. Is there a problem with the antenna of sun witin cubao, p. tuazon area?
Eh bakit 236.8 lagi ang speed.. di nag bago since last year pa to, langya naman ang sun qc loc ko pero ni minsan di man lang umangat ang 236.8 kbps speed ko.. kahit sa office ganun din ang speed ko… bakit kaya.. yung modem ko is kagaya nyan yang nsa taas na naka post E220..di talaga nag babago speed ko kahit saan ako mag punta sa qc laging 236.8 kbps ang bagal grabe

^ Yeah me too I’m still a student & will be staying in a dorm in Dasmariñas, Cavite near the DLS-University Medical Center. I just want to know if there is a signal in Dasma Cavite already because I’m thinking about getting globe tattoo or this sun wireless. Thanks for any reply.
Pau I’m currently in Metro Manila area and not in Dasma, how will the 3G Finder work if I’m on a different location? Thanks.
Pau I’m now at ym, what’s your id? Thanks.
do you happen to know the link for 3G Finder? need to know where is the strongest signal?
uhmm. possible po ba na magamit ko ung network connection ng Sun Broadband or Globe Visibility pero Smart Bro Prepain MF622 ung gamit ko.. pls. give me a reply at my email.. tnx.
Gusto ko sana ma-test dito sa area namin before ako bumili nito.

Molino po area namin. malapit sa daang hari/ southvalle sonera
I am interested on buying one of that… Will that work here at Mindoro..????
Ahm kakuha ko lng ng SWB…and ahmmm??

so ang pinaka matinung solution pra makpag DL sa mga gnyang site ay thru Premium link Generator
The Sun Broadband connection service is very disappointing!
Don’t be fooled to subscribe to this network.
They claim that they have 2Mbps but this is not true.
The highest speed that I get is 40 Kbps.
Most of the time during peak hours I get less than 10 Kbps.
Your browser seems to just freeze. You could sleep while waiting for the website to upload.
It seems that the Manila area is already congested since a few months back the connection is not like this. Your money is not worth it when you buy this.
The Sun Broadband is like the the Sun Cellular. A waste of money!
They should refund to the consumers all the connection days that the network gave slow connections.
The Senate of the Philippines should also make an action regarding this. We demand a refund with slow connections. This should be also be true with Sun Cellular calls.
If their Network could not handle the bulk of consumers that subscribe to their network, they should just limit the number of consumers that avail their network. We are being fooled by this network!
When you call their customer service, you have to wait for at least 30 minutes to be answered. Sometimes I wait for 30 minutes and it will be disconnected so I have to call customer service again and wait for another 30 minutes.
Dont be fooled by this Sun Cellular and Broadband Network.
Such a waste of money.
Consumers have the right to have good service.
We demand that the modems that we bought should also be refunded.
They will sometimes give you websites to check your speed right now but it is inaccurate … giving you fast speed but actually not.
Dont be fooled by this network.
I guess other networks are like this also?
Consumers have the right to have good service. All those poor service hours should be refunded.
They have a demo computer in their store which is acceptably fast in the area but when you test your own unit it has slow connection. Something is fishy. Could the account in the demo unit really much faster than what they sell?
Dont be fooled by this Sun Broadband Wireless Network!

bkit ganon. 20kbps lng nakukuha kong download speed. pano ba pabilisin un. nasa manila ako sampaloc lng yun ha, pero nung first week na gnagamit ko nag 3.6mbps pa cya. but now WALA AKO MASABI>
all of us guys using SBW encountered the same problems, my first month using this SBW was so fast i can download a 700mb torrent file for about 12 hours pero ngaun 3-5 days na inaabot ko, naisip ko sanang mag palit nlng ng PLDT myDSL kaso parang sinayang ko lng ung pinangbayad ko d2 sa modem na to. if someone is reading this and planning to subscribe for SBW, dont, just dont………………….*sigh* what a waste of money for buying this modem and paying a monthly for “799″ and time para hintayin mong mag load ng napakatagal ang isang site. SBW *sucks*
I have been a subscriber of SBW for more than 10 months now. I had an acceptable speed connection with SBW during the first 6 months but experience slow connections during the last 4 months. I have been complaining about having slow connections at my area during peak hours. I have been trying to follow up with SBW customer service for the past 4 months now due to the slow connections. They agree that there is a problem with my area but they will never refund my payment since the reason that I have slow connections is due to congestion of users and not due to the system. This is because, if you would look at some of the literatures of SBW, there are small imprints that say that SBW could slow down during peak hours. For this reason, they are free from complaints and suit from DTI.
My subscription with SBW is not locked in for 2 years. I am decided to terminate my subscription from SBW even if I will waste my investment on their modem and router but you have to apply in their main office for termination which will really be a hassle. You can only also refund the 1000 pesos deposit after 6 months from service termination.
They said that SBW is continually improving their service in my area but doesn’t know when. So I asked if I could just hold my subscription with SBW while their connection is slow and would just re-subscribe when they already improved the system. They said that it could be possible but you have to pay 500 pesos for the reconnection fee.
Given the situation, I asked if I would just not pay the following months until my service is terminated. They said that after 2 months of non-payment, the SBW subscription would be disconnected but I would continually be charged every month even if the subscription is not being used until I pay and could receive a demand letter from their lawyers.
I asked where I could complain in writing and who to write to but they would never give a supervisor name. They just told me to email my complaint directed to a “To whom it may concern” to suncellular@digitel.com.ph
THIS IS A SUPER WARNING!
Think very well before subscribing to SBW.
TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO SBW AND IS NOT SATISFIED AND DOESNT HAVE THE TIME YET TO GO THROUGH THE HASSLES OF TERMINATING FROM THEIR SERVICE OR TO THOSE WHO HAVE A LOCK IN PERIOD OF 2 YEARS …
DONT PAY FOR THE NEXT 2 MONTHS JUST BEFORE DISCONNECTION!!!
LET THEM FEEL THAT THEY HAVE TO IMPROVE THEIR SYSTEM.
HOPEFULLY I WILL HAVE TIME TO REALLY GO TO THEIR MAIN OFFICE TO TERMINATE MY SUBSCRIPTION. HOPEFULLY I WILL NOT HAVE MORE HASSLES WHILE DOING THIS!
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
kung ako sa inyo wagnyo na itry! sobrang bagal na ng sun ngayon! parang capped na ata sa 650kbps ang connection.. ang dami na nagrereklamo tungkol dun!
Hi. I just bought my sun broadband pack today. Sadly I don’t have signal. I live in Paranaque Better Living, which has around 3 sites when we checked in the 3g finder. Is there anything I am missing or I just simply don’t have signal?
how can i avail of your sun visibilty? how much is the price u can email me the info glenn_coronel@yahoo.com, or txt me 09272800787.
pwd po bang mkahingi ng settings ng swb..pls?
i want to avail sun broadband. galing ako sa market market kagabi tapus sabi punta daw sila sa house for testing of signals…
nasa boundery kkami ng map na coverage ng signal…
gusto ko lang matanung kung malakas kaya signal samin?
Same din ba dial number ng Sun sa Smart *99#? regardless of APN minternet or fbband?
bought a prepaid sun broadband kit june of this year but now i can no longer use it. the damned thing can’t pick up a signal, can’t even send a single stinking text message just to check my balance – as in nada! and when you touch it, ang init-init! read somewhere that if the unit gets busted then walang palit so i’m still thinking if whether i should bother visiting their sun centers to have the unit checked. otherwise i just might stick the sun usb dongle in a place where the SUN doesn’t shine!
Same experience as 3RDRA. I mean, bought SBW last September. It was super fast at first (faster than Smart Bro—but really. Anything would be faster than that thing.) so I was satisfied with my purchase. Pero ngayon it won’t even connect! Which is so weird coz I just used it last time when I went to school.. and then when I returned home it won’t freakin’ connect for some reason. I shall have to go to a Sun center to sort out the problem..
Kawawa naman kayo ang bagal ng connection mo, I wish pwede ko i share ung connection na nakukuha ko from SUN. Sana wag nyo masyadong laitin yung SUN kasi na try ko na lahat ng broadband, so far this is the fastest. Im paying 649 per month and Im getting 3mbps.
