PWiince of Persia : Rival Swords

Like I mentioned in this post, this game took great pleasure in cockblocking me at every turn.

At the start of this game, it deceived me into thinking that it was going to be a cakewalk because the first half of the game involves nothing more than you finding the next ledge to jump off from and maybe kill a few enemies who almost always have their backs turned away from you. Also from what I remember from the original PC version, you spend the majority of the game trying to figure out how to get through the different levels by jumping, running, and avoiding getting killed.

True to form, you get to do pretty much the same stuff here. Only awesomer. If you’ve seen the Youtube video I posted in the linked entry above, you’ll see the fun part of the game. Where you get to do acrobatic stunts like knife-slash-ride down curtains, wall-run, wall-jump, and kill shit. All because the Prince does not know how to open doors.

Seriously. There are countless doors in this game, but you cannot open a single one. You can break through walls, you can discover hidden passageways to the next level/room, you can control the flow of time. But once you’re faced with a normal, everyday, garden variety wooden door, the Prince will sit there with his thumb up his ass until you figure out his next move.

Spider-Man: FWiiend or Foe

I originally hadn’t planned on playing this game until after I finished the ones I was currently playing. (Yeah, I don’t like playing several different games at once. I like to focus on one and play it until one of us dies.)

But during the Christmas break, a couple of my buddies came over and decided to give this game a try instead being good guests and let me play whatever I wanted to play. But despite my initial misgivings, we ended up playing it for I think 4 hours. We would have continued playing had it not for this stupid thing called the Sun which was threatening to shine and ruin a perfectly good evening.

After my buddies left, I found myself picking up the game whenever I hit a wall in whatever game I was trying to finish at the moment. I eventually noticed a couple of things about the game that could have been done better, but overall, it’s a worthy addition to my game library.

Avatar The Last AirWiinder: Burning Earth

The wife and I are huge fans of the show Avatar: The Last Airbender. I personally think it’s the most badass show we’re following right now, despite it being a kiddie show. It’s even more badass than so called “action/adventure” shows that never show much “action” (Yes, I’m looking at you Heroes.)

So can you imagine our excitement when we learned of the Avatar video game for the Wii? Well you can’t. Because our level of excitement can only be measured in ways humans haven’t discovered yet.

So anyway we popped the game in and was awesomed at being able to play our favorite characters. But that only lasted for a couple of hours. Eventually the wife grew tired of playing the game. And honestly so did it. Only a mechanical desire to see it through prompted me to finish the game even after it went from being entertaining to a tedious chore. I’ll discuss why in the following paragraphs. Because this paragraph’s already done its job. Also, the other paragraphs might get jealous if I used this paragraph to discuss everything. And this paragraph’s gone long enough. Like my penis. HUHLOLZ!
