I wanted to love this. And I still do. That’s why I’m planning on watching the film a few more times just to make sure that I wasn’t being overly critical the first time. I hope that I don’t have the same experience with it as I had with Batman Begins–a movie which I gave several chances, but only ended up disappointing me.
I’ve heard some people say that the reason why it disappointed them was because it dragged in some parts and there were too few action sequences.
If you ask me, it’s not that it was boring. I didn’t mind the exposition scenes much because I know the importance of giving the characters some breathing room. But the thing that bugged me was the absence of the fun factor in said scenes. Continue reading ‘Superman Returns’
Of course I don’t think it was a good movie by any measure; but as much as I tried, I couldn’t bring myself to hate it as much as I hated the book. Maybe it’s because I’ve already reached my hating quota for the week. Or maybe most of the things I hated about the book (the flowery words, the inelegant use of the English language, etc.) were not that apparent in the movie. I also attribute my extremely low expectations to my relatively non-lethal feelings about the film.
Having said that, I wasn’t blind to the flaws the movie had. Wooden acting. Heavy handed direction. Miscast actors. All of these were not lost on me. But like I said, they were not enough for me to be hating. Also, I don’t think I can stand another screening of a movie with as many false endings as I have chins.
Pimplepopper Once in a while a movie comes along that can make me cry like a little gay girl. Reign Over Me is one of those movies. Like A Gay Girl. Plurk me!
