The Pacifier

The PacifierI never really took Vin Diesel seriously as an actor. I’ve only liked two of his movies: The Iron Giant, and this one. All his other movies were for shit. Ok, so maybe Pitch Black was mildly entertaining; and Saving Private Ryan was good fluff, but not really Spielberg’s best work. Anyway, you get the idea.

That’s right, screw what the critics say. I actually enjoyed The Pacifier. Notice that the two Vin Diesel movies that I actually like are for kids. It’s either because the stars mysteriously align themselves when Vin Diesel is surrounded by kids and it triggers something that unleases the actor within; or maybe it just suits him when he’s not taking himself too seriously. I’m leaning towards the latter. I mean come on, with a name like that (his real name is Mark Vincent by the way); there has to be some entertainment value to watching him make a fool of himself right? That alone is enough reason for me to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Another thing I appreciated was how the movie had the decency to mention The Sound of Music. It really gets my goat when a film rips off another film and doesn’t even say thank you.

And any film that has Lauren Graham “The Ultimate MILF,” gets a nod from me. Had she worn tighter and/or wet clothes during the movie; and perhaps shown some boobage, I would have nominated it for an Oscar.
